When should carpet be cleaned?

Tell-tale signs: a darker path between door and bed, stains that come back after scrubbing, crushed fibres, or a smell that returns as soon as windows are closed. Professional cleaning is also recommended before moving out of a rental or moving in.

Our carpet method

We move what can easily be moved, vacuum deeply (especially along skirting boards), pre-treat stains, then clean strip by strip with hot-water extraction and overlap to avoid marks. Steam is used on very dirty areas. Carpeted stairs are done step by step, risers included.

End of tenancy

Before a check-out inspection, careful cleaning can make a real difference — though it cannot restore a carpet worn down to the backing. Tell us the inspection date so it has time to dry.

Drying

We extract as much water as possible; carpet is usually dry to the touch within a few hours if the room is ventilated.

Carpet and allergies

Wall-to-wall carpet acts like a reservoir: dust, dust mites, pet hair and pollen accumulate at the base of the fibres. For people with allergies or asthma, deep cleaning once or twice a year, combined with regular vacuuming with a good filter, makes a real difference. Hot-water extraction removes a large share of these particles, which a household vacuum alone cannot do.

Carpeted stairs

Stair nosings are where everyone steps, and they darken quickly. We clean stairs step by step, risers included, paying particular attention to corners where dust builds up. The result is even, with no difference between steps.

How long does it take?

For a bedroom of about 12 square metres, count roughly thirty to forty-five minutes of work, plus a few hours of drying with the window open. A full floor with stairs usually takes a morning.

Furnished rentals and end of tenancy

Landlords and agencies often check carpets carefully at the end of a tenancy. A professional clean a few days before the inspection is the best way to avoid deductions from your deposit.
