A rug holds more than you think
A rug acts like a filter: it traps sand from shoes, dust, hair, dust mites and food crumbs, much of which sinks to the base of the fibres. The result: dull colours, flattened walkways and sometimes a musty smell.
How we clean your rug
Slow, methodical vacuuming (both sides when possible), pre-treatment of stains and traffic areas, then hot-water extraction: shampoo is injected and immediately extracted with the dirt. Depending on the material we add steam, clean the fringes separately and brush the pile in the right direction for even drying.
Synthetic, wool, cotton… and special cases
Synthetic rugs and most machine-woven wool rugs clean very well at home. Cotton and jute react more to water, so we use far less moisture. For an antique hand-knotted, silk or high-value rug, a specialist workshop is often better — we will tell you rather than take a risk.
How often?
Once a year for a living-room rug in a home with children or pets; every two years in a quieter home. In between, vacuum once or twice a week and blot stains immediately without rubbing.
Why rugs get so dirty
Sand and grit brought in on shoes sink to the base of the pile, where they act like sandpaper every time someone walks over the rug. Add dust, pet hair, dust mites and food crumbs, and even a rug that looks clean from above can hold a surprising amount of dirt. Regular vacuuming helps, but only deep cleaning with hot-water extraction removes what is trapped at the base of the fibres and brings colours back to life.
Rugs on old parquet floors
In many Paris apartments, rugs lie directly on old wooden floors. We use as little moisture as possible, protect the floor around and under the rug if needed, and let it dry flat in a ventilated room, so there is no risk to the parquet.
Areas served
We clean rugs at home in every Paris arrondissement and across Île-de-France, with no collection or workshop: everything is done on site, in a single visit.
